SEARCH FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR—60+ RIDE

Senior Resource Services dba 60+ Ride invites applicants for the position of Executive Director. 60+ Ride is a nonprofit agency offering free transportation to individuals 60 and older and/or with disabilities in Greeley/Weld County. With an annual operating budget of $450,000. 60+ Ride volunteers provided 3,518 rides in the first half of 2023. The agency expects to add disability services this year.

The Executive Director leads an office staff of four plus four part- and full-time drivers, and some 90 volunteers to serve its clients. The ED is responsible for personnel and budget management, community relations, fundraising, and collaboration with local, state, and federal entities to meet its mission. The ED reports to a Board of Directors and is subject to annual review.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience and five year’s management experience to include: staff training, supervision, and evaluation; budget development and management; fundraising and grant administration; community outreach and special event planning.

The applicant should possess strong communication and organizational skills and be at ease with public speaking.

Preferred: Extensive experience in nonprofit agencies.

18+ Ride: Free Transportation for Adults with Disabilities

Position Objective
To administer and manage 60+ Ride in a manner which results in successfully serving the transportation needs of Weld County’s older adult population while maintaining and elevating its financial security and public presence

Essential functions

  • Administration
    • Strategic Vision, Planning, & Oversight
      • Ensure that Bylaws, Policies and Procedures are current
        Monitor program data to ensure quality and quantity of service results, reporting to the Board and adjusting organization’s trajectory accordingly
      • Ensure that services and funding relationships are adequate to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives.
    • Board recruitment, relationships, & communication
      • Maintain a matrix of needed skills sets and recruit to them
      • Maintain and build positive relationships with board members individually and as a whole
      • Maintain clear and positive communication with the Board of Directors
    • Advocacy Leadership
      • Work to further public awareness of, and response to, the needs of the aging population
      • Recognize and advocate for filling service gaps
    • Management
      • Manage and supervise staff
        Retain a diverse, highly qualified staff by valuing each member’s role within a team environment, providing career coaching and personal development, and offering autonomy and flexibility within responsibility for results
      • Organize operations and coordinate staff roles and essential tasks
      • Ensure Employee Handbook is current and staff members are familiar with and accountable for contents
      • Monitor program data to ensure quality and quantity of service results, adjusting staff roles and coaching accordingly
    • Human Resources
      • Define staff positions, advertise, hire, train, supervise, evaluate annually, make salary recommendations to Board, and terminate when necessary
    • Community Relations
      • Coordinate and oversee marketing and publicity
      • Build relationships by positively interacting with the public through networking, professional groups, and presentations
      • Maintain and increase awareness of 60+ Ride’s needs and services in the larger Greeley / Weld community
      • Collaborate with Weld County, Northern Colorado, and Colorado agencies and businesses as is mutually beneficial
      • Recruit board members, volunteers, sponsors, and donors
      • Build relationships by positively interacting with sponsors, donors, grantors, and the public as appropriate to this position
      • Maintain and increase awareness of 60+ Ride’s needs and services in the larger Greeley / Weld / Colorado community
      • Recruit sponsors, donors, and major donors
        Attend funders’ informational and social events
    • Development & Fundraising
      • Work with local, state, and federal agencies and foundations to identify and tap into funding sources
      • Contract, work with, and manage grant-writing specialist to pursue external funding opportunities
      • Review, proof, and edit all grant content before submission
      • Utilize outreach and marketing to publicize development and fundraising efforts
      • Build and maintain a Major Donor program
      • Manage and oversee the use of Bloomerang, a donor management program, to fully utilize its potential for 60+ Ride’s financial benefit
      • Create, organize and manage fundraising projects and events including Heart to Heart, Ride & Revel!, Colorado Gives, business partnership events, and solicitation letters
      • Lead the solicitation of and work with sponsors of Heart to Heart and Ride & Revel!
      • Lead, organize, and work with community members, staff, and board fundraising committee to plan and present Heart to Heart, Colorado Gives, and Ride & Revel!
      • Create or coordinate outreach, marketing, and publicity related to development and fundraising efforts, including social media, radio, newspapers, electronic event calendars, and magazines
      • Prepare accurate and timely analyses which capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends to Board
    • Finance
      • Develop and implement consistent cost accounting policies, procedures, and operational reporting
      • Prepare annual budget for Board approval, monitor expenditures, communicate discrepancies, and recommend revisions to Board as needed
      • Coordinate and lead annual and semi-monthly budget reviews with periodic forecast updates supported by appropriate staff and board members
      • Monitor insurance coverage to ensure policies are adequate, current, and cost effective
    • Communications
      • Communicate positively and effectively with Board of Directors, staff members, vendors, clients, volunteers, partners, and the public
      • Write biannual newsletter article and oversee entire newsletter
      • Oversee all public facing written communication
      • Communicate positively and effectively with Executive Director, staff members, Board of Directors, vendors, clients, volunteers, partners, and the public
      • Write high quality press releases, newsletter articles, thank you letters, and other necessary communications as appropriate

Hours
40 hours/week, including 9AM – 4PM office hours unless out of the office for work related events. Some early morning, evening, and weekend hours required, but are credited as flex time during the same work week.

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate
  • 12-month exempt
