Shelby Florio’s Transition is Complete

The most exciting news at the Senior Resource Services office this quarter is that Shelby has completed the transition from ride scheduling to Volunteer Coordinator!  For clients the change has been invisible, and for volunteers it will be seamless other than talking to Becky or Jenni rather than Shelby when calling the office. A huge thank you to all volunteers, and especially those willing and able to use the RideScheduler program to self-assign rides, because without your help this transition would not have been successful!

While Becky and Jenni are now holding down the fort by answering both phone lines and scheduling rides for clients, Shelby will often be out in the Weld County community developing relationships and telling our story for the purpose of recruiting volunteers. This brings us back to the strategic plan discussed in Janet’s update, because additional volunteers will allow SRS to eliminate our 4+ month waiting list and long term to begin marketing to  clients who need but aren’t yet aware of our services. Look for Shelby and our VISTA, Debra, in an SRS booth at community events, giving presentations to civic and faith groups, and visiting municipalities. If there are adequate numbers of volunteers in any area of Weld County, we are able to serve the seniors there, so Shelby is the woman of the quarter!

Another change is that Shelby is now traveling to new volunteers’ homes to welcome and orient them, answer questions, and gather important documents such as insurance and drivers license copies. She will also be upping our Volunteer appreciation game to four events a year, so volunteers, please be watching for a late summer/early fall social event just for you!
